Women of Perseverance

Psalm 16:8

“I have set the Lord always before me, because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.” (immovable, unshakeable, steadfast)

Perseverance – a steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement

Perseverance, persistence, tenacity, pertinacity imply resolute and unyielding holding on in following a course of action. Perseverance commonly suggests activity maintained in spite of difficulties or steadfast and long-continued application.

As the clock ticks upon each approaching decade, today’s women are perceived various ways. All depicting something greater, stronger, more beautiful or sexy. With each growth spurt in the world of women, the roles of responsibility continue to climb quickly accompanied by their expectations. All reaching for some invincible goal that – to be honest – will never be met in one’s personal strength.

Of course, us, as the “Women of Today”, don’t realize the pace we’re traveling until we’ve come to a catastrophic halt by life’s wake up call. A wake up call can be as small as a brewing coffee pot refusing to corroborate to a discouraging report about our health. No matter what size the catastrophe LIFE doesn’t care and LIFE doesn’t stop to wait for us to catch up. It keeps trucking along, as we continue on this never ending track. All we have in our favor is our Father.

Days seem to pass too quickly and the hours are shorter, the “To Do” list is longer. From our coffee pots on the brink (a much needed necessity for some of us), not enough clean underwear, homework that didn’t get done, bills piling up and money short, a promising business deal suddenly gone south, our relationship with our spouse or a friend is faltering, our children love us but don’t show respect, a sickness that has made us weak or that can’t be cured, to forgetting time with the Lord. Sometimes it takes all the unforeseen obstacles (enemies of our mind and of the natural) in this treadmill life to get our attention.

We are all here right now because we’ve learned that we have a yearning that is indescribable, a passion that is uncontainable, or a storm of irritation that needs calming. We know that no matter where we are we can come to our Father and rely on His words, strength and love to keep us moving on.

Heal and Restore

The power of scripture is astounding. Reading it with a heart full of purpose can literally change the atmosphere surrounding you. I particularly love reading action words in scripture because it makes me feel as though I’m going to get something done in the spirit. Shhh…I like kicking ‘devil butt’!!!!!

Ladies, I encourage you to post this scripture where you’re going to see it when you rise in the morning, where you are during the day, and where you can view before you sleep at night. Reading something is one thing but when we believe it and allow it to grab a hold of our heart, mind and spirit man….just think what can happen.

2 Samuel 22: 2 – 3

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; the God of my strength, in whom I will trust…….”

2 Samuel 22:29 – 40

“For You are my lamp (light), O Lord; the Lord shall enlighten my darkness. For by You, I can run against a troop. By my God, I can leap over a wall. As for God, His way is perfect. The word of the Lord is proven. He is a shield to all who trust in Him. For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? God is my strength and power and He makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer (firm and able) and sets me secure and confident upon the heights. He teaches my hands to make war. So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You have also given me Your shield of salvation; Your gentleness has made me great. You enlarged my path under me so my feet did not slip. I have pursued my enemies and destroyed them. Neither, did I turn back again till they were destroyed. And I have destroyed them and wounded them. So that they could not rise. They have fallen under my feet. For you have armed me with strength for the battle.”

Activate and Create

Our present, our future, our past are in His hands. We know this, we sing this, we read it in His word. How often do we believe it? How often do we draw from His strength? How often we do stop for just a few moments a day and say……

“Daddy, I can’t do this. I can’t go from this moment, another ticking of the clock. I can’t keep running this rat race of competition. I can’t keep running into a wall of communication with my spouse. I can’t. I can’t do this, Daddy…….without YOU. I need your strength right now. Your strength gives me perseverance, endurance, patience, love, steadfastness. This is something I can’t find at the bottom of my makeup bag, or at my favorite boutique, or through a 5 hour shot of caffeine, or through a box of chocolates. This I know, can only be found in moments like these.

I need you Daddy. I need you now. I need your strength because without you, my feet are going to stumble. Without you, that wall I have to face tomorrow is going to feel like a thick wall of steel. Without you, that enemy of my mind is going to take over. Meet me now and hold my hand. You lead me and I will follow. Guide my works, words, and actions as the day carries on. Be my steady perseverance, persistence in course of every action, purpose, state of mind, in spite of what today’s difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement comes my way.”
