“Enough” by guest blogger ~ Ida Mundell

I have asked a friend of mine, Ida Mundell, to share her thoughts and encouraging words to all the homeschooling moms as the new year school year is upon us.  Thank you, Ida, you are such an inspiration and blessing to many.

Enough by Ida Mundell

Perhaps you’ve schooled over the summer or maybe you’re like me. I had grand plans of schooling all summer but instead I found myself just too busy to sit at our school table. Either way it’s almost time for “Back To School” or in our case “Back To Home”.

The beginning of the school year is always exciting to me. There’s so much hope and anticipation of what the coming year will bring. Will our kinder daughter learn to read? Will our preschooler thrive with a love of learning? Will our 9 month old let me get anything done? (Yeah. That should be fun!) Will I be an effective and loving teacher to my children? Will I be a good manager of our time? So many questions and wonderings of what will come. So many hopes and dreams for my sweet babies.

And let’s be honest…a tiny bit of fear on my part as I gear up for the great adventure of our second homeschooling year.

Fear that I’m not enough. Not smart enough. Not organized enough. Not patient enough. Not kind enough. Not creative enough. Just. Not. Enough.

When fear tries to snuff out joy and hope…. I bring the fears to my sweet Savior and He gently reminds me…

“Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail)” Psalm 55:22

Lord, I give you these burdens, these thoughts, these fears, trusting that you will sustain me throughout this school year and beyond.

But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) andshow themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!”  – 2 Corinthians 12:9

Lord, I loudly admit “I AM WEAK” and I beg you to dwell over me. My weakness for YOUR strength. I say that I am not enough…but YOUR grace IS ENOUGH!

Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do super-abundantly  far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]”   – Ephesians 3:20

Lord, I thank you that Your power is at work within me! I believe that YOU working through me will accomplish FAR MORE than I could ever ask or think. That YOU working through me will accomplish fare more than I could ever dream of!

With these sweet promises and words of truth I, with much hopeful anticipation, look forward to our homeschooling journey. I pray that your hearts are encouraged as you begin your own journey and may we always remember that HE is more than enough!

I am speaking/book signing at a large group of homeschooling moms event in Sept.
There will be two sessions of encouraging younger and older children to write….so I esp. enjoyed your blog.

All teachers model for our students a love of learning…esp. in the areas of real life
reading/writing/speaking/spelling in numerous ways. I know our confidence and passion comes from God who is the author and finisher of our faith. My heart is to give ideas but also to encourage them to believe they are enough and more than enough with God’s help. Blessings!
