The Tug of War with Inner Self . . .

tug-of-war“Cause me to hear Your loving-kindness in the morning, for on You do I lean and in You do I trust.  Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk, for I lift up my inner self to You.” ~ Psalm 143:8

Inner Self – soul, mind, emotions – the makeup of the wholeness of your psyche.  Conscious or unconscious – relating to the soul, mind, spirit

“As emotion pulsates, the mind becomes deceived and conscience is denied its standard of judgment.”  ~ quote by Watchman Nee

Having a ready and set mind to place God in our thought process at the beginning of each day enables us to actively learn how to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh.

Just as we prepare our bodies for the day before us whether it be in going to the gym first thing in the morning or preparing our bodies by choosing the right foods to eat; we must set our first few moments of each day to prepare our minds and set our hearts on the Lord.  In doing this, we set a perimeter round about us that is made of steel and shines so bright that the enemy is scared.  Not scared because we are awake.  Although, being awake in spirit is the most powerful tool in implementing the purposes for our day.  The enemy is scared due to the fact that we have taken the initiative to set our sight on the Lord and trust Him with every moving, awake moment.

Knowledge of our authority and utilizing that authority throughout our day gives amplified power to our purpose that God has planned for us.  However, if we fail to walk in our authority we’ve allowed the enemy to run with our souls, our minds, and our hearts; trampling upon them.  Think of rose petals just fallen on the floor.  At first glance we know that they are fresh petals from its fragrant flower.  As one takes a step upon them they begin to bruise and become tattered and torn.  Eventually, the once beautiful fragrant petals that were vibrant with color become shriveled up and darkened to abuse.  The fragrance is but a faint aroma.

Are you allowing the enemy to trample upon what was once a beautiful sculpted rose by the hand of God?   The trampling will not cease until you take action. Be the change in your life instead of allowing everyday moments of victory to pass you by.

Having a renewed mind bringing every thought and emotion captive before our feet hit the ground makes us a person of powerful purpose.
