Addictions ~ LIVE TODAY ~ 2013 ~ Day 34/365, Week 5/52

Raise the Standard

It is amazing to see how far we have come from the righteousness and holiness of God.

To find pleasure in the most grotesque actions, perversions without thought to the after effects upon the mind and eye gate, and human brutality to another . . .

We find all these things amusing and then turn to our prayer, bible study groups, and Sunday church with a shameless smile.

God has mercy and grace and we are fortunate for these gifts, but for how long are we going to continue to pull on the heart-strings of God when we ultimately know right from wrong?

We continue in our filth because it feels good for about  – what 30 seconds, an hour of show time, a day or two of romantic novel-reading, a 30 minute flip book of porn, a glance of nudity full or sneak peaks on our walls, a few hours of shoot ups and blood gore, a box of chocolates and two more to go . . .

Our Father will love us no matter and will continue to forgive.

BUT!

There is a limit too how many times and when He takes His hands off of us leaving us to our addictions.

Until we turn away (not going back to the origin of sin) from these mindless impure pleasures.  Begin running towards righteousness, holiness, and purity with full repentance and abandonment.  Knowing what true mercy and grace is all about and not manipulating it because we know “He’ll forgive us!”

Sometimes, I wonder what He sees, how He sees, and what His heart feels when we are in the sinful nature of our flesh.   We need to bring the truth to the forefront making His sacrifice worth every drop of His shed blood for the exchange of our sin.

I challenge you today to consider all that you think, say, and do.

Choosing to daily live in the spirit and not our flesh is the hardest struggle man kind encounters.  However,  a goal purposed for success is never easy . . .

BUT is possible.

Each day is a living sacrifice of our flesh. Some days we will make mistakes (we have not failed, remember FAILURE is not a word), but as we take each day step by step positive life-giving habits are created.  Once formed, a positive habit nullifies an addiction.  Your mood, your thoughts, your cravings will begin to change and before you know it, you will not have the urgency to partake of what was killing you before.

So, choose to LIVE TODAY! by creating a new habit and begin the process of breaking addiction.
