Simplicity

My youngest daughter (6) woke me up this morning asking me this,

Alyssa:  “Mommy, can anything break?”
Me:  “Yes, anything.”
Alyssa:  “Like what?”
Me:  “Anything (and of course we began to name everything that breaks)
Alyssa:  “Mommy, can people be broken?”
Me:  “Yes . . . you mean like our bones and  . . .
Alyssa:  “Even our hearts can be broken, too?”
Me: “Yes”
Alyssa:  “That’s why Jesus died for us, right?  To fix our hearts?”

Wow! Yes!  I asked where she heard that from – who told her about Jesus dying on the cross. Of course, I’m expecting to hear her say her grandparents, Keith or I, or her brother and sister but NO this is what she said:

“Jesus told me this morning while I was dreaming that He died on the cross to fix people’s hearts that were broken because He loves them.”

So simple . . .  We are all broken – We are all in need of a Savior – All of us in Christ’s eyes deserve love.  His love.   That simple.

  3. Such a beautiful reminder, God does speak to our hearts. The little ones are willing to listen, adults often are not. Thank you for sharing.
